The (Annual) General Meeting (GM or AGM)

The AGM is the sovereign policy and decision-making body of ECBE. It is composed of all active Members of ECBE. The main responsibilities of the AGM, inter alia, are to:

• Elect and dismiss the members of the Board of Directors
• Elect and dismiss 2 members of the Committee of Appeal;
• Approve ECBE’s annual budget;
• Approve ECBE’s annual financial statements;
• Give discharge to the members of the Board of Directors;
• Receive, consider and approve the annual reports of Directors on the activities of ECBE, of the Committee of Appeal, the Director of Accreditation and the Chairperson of ECBE - President of ECBE.
• Take note of the annual report of the Chairman of the Pool of Reviewers and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners.
• Following a decision of the Board of Directors, ratify the exclusion of Members by the Board of Directors;
• Approve the dissolution of ECBE;
• Take any decisions or make any recommendations to the Board of Directors that are necessary for the satisfactory functioning of ECBE;
• Amend Statutes of ECBE.

ECBE has the following types of General meetings:

• According to the traditions of ECBE, the Annual General Meeting is convoked every year in May. Having such a meeting once a year is mandatory. We combine the AGM with ECBE's Annual Conference: the total event takes 3 days. More information about the next AGM can be found here.
• An Additional General Meeting can be organized whenever needed. Until today, this was done only once: on January 14th, 2019, such a meeting approved the new Statutes of the Agency.
• An Extraordinary General Meeting is an additional one, in the presence of a notary. Such a meeting is necessary whenever Statutes are amended. Until today, this was done only once: on January 14th 2019.

Important decisions taken by the General Meeting, the Board of Directors and the Board of Commissioners

• 04/01/2021:
  The BoD approves the proposed changes of the Statutes and decides to convoke a Special AGM as soon as possible.
  The BoD approves the Terms and Conditions of Sale, Ver3.0.
  The BoD approves the Accreditation Process Guidelines for Institutions Ver3.4.
  The BoD approves the fees for the Annual Conference 2021, Paris.
• 15/12/2020:
  As the AGM was not in quorum, the BoD coopted Prof. dr. Pavel Zufan and Martin Janacek as BoD members. Prof. dr. Pavel Zufan is re-elected as President of the Agency. 
  The BoD appointed Prof dr. Alkis Tsiklis as treasurer, and Prof. dr. Maja Fosner as Secretary.
  The BoD coopted Prof. Véronique Sournies and Prof. Ray Hilditch as members of the Committee of Appeal.
  The BoD confirmed the dates, the location and the topics of the Annual Conference 2021, Paris.
• 30/11/2020:
  The BoD decides to combine the Annual Conference 2020 and the Pre-Conference Seminar on one single day: December 11th, 2020.
  The BoD decides to postpone the Annual General Assembly until Tuesday, December 15th, 2020.
  The BoD decides to organise a Extraordinary General Assembly in February 2021 to discuss and agree upon some changes to the Statutes of the Agency.
  The BoD fixed the membership fee for 2021 as follows: 2700€ for Members with accredited programs, 2400€ for Members without accredited programs, 600€ for Affiliated Members. Invoices will be sent during the first week of January, due date is 14 days.
• 01/11/2020:
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to the University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Science, for a period of 5 years.
• 25/09/2020:
  The BoD took notice of the resignation of Prof. dr. László Szepesi as BoD member.
  The BoD decides to combine the Annual Conference and the AGM as one online event on November 19th - 21st.
  The BoD decides Annual Conference and AGM 2021 will be organized in Paris end of May 2021 in a blended format.
• 07/09/2020:
  The BoD approves the updated management charts.
  The BoD approves version 2.5 of the Quality Management Manual.
  The BoD co-opts Martin Janacek as BoD Member, representative of employers.
• 22/07/2020:
  On behalf of the BoD, Prof. dr. Pavel Žufan signed the Memorandum of Understanding with SQAA (Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency).
• 17/07/2020:
  The BoD took notice of the approval of ECBE's membership request by CEENQA (Eastern European Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education).
• 12/06/2020:
  The BoD approves version 3.1 of the Bye-Laws.
  The BoD appoints Matthew Kitching as student observer of the Board of Directors.
  The BoD appoints Matthew Kitching, Jernej Širok (SQAA) and Naiba Sadykhova (from Plekhanov Russian University of Economics) as members of the Quality Committee.
  The BoD appoints Prof. dr. Teresa Shafer as member of the Annual Conference Committee.
  The BoD decides to request membership of CEENQA (Eastern European Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education).
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to Horizons University for a period of 5 years.
• 30/05/2020:
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to AMA International University Bahrain for a period of 5 years.
• 25/05/2020:
  The BoD approves the new Appeals and Complaints procedure; it will become part of the new release of the Bye-laws.
  The BoD agrees to accept a student as an observer to the BoD meetings.
  The BoD appoints Prof. dr. Alasdair White and Gaik Nalbandyan as Senior Reviewers for the remain part of their assignment.
  The BoD decides that the Virtual Base Room will become a part of the standard review process.
  The BoD decides to postpone the AGM to September 2020.
• 12/05/2020:
  The BoD approves version 2.4 of the Bye-Laws.
• 10/03/2020:
  The BoD decided to postpone the Annual Conference 2020, Paris, to fall 2020; the AGM will still be kept on May 23rd, 2020, but in Brussels.
• 13/03/2020:
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to Alma Mater Europaea for a period of 4 years.
• 17/02/2020:
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to Southern Federal university (SFedU) for a period of 5 years.
• 10/02/2020:
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to United International Business Schools (UIBS) for a period of 3, 4 and 5 years (depending on the program).
  The BoD appoints Michał Goszczyński from the ESU Pool of Experts as Student Reviewer fro a period of 1 year, ending 09/02/2021.
  The BoD appoints Patrick Niebergall from the ESU Pool of Experts as Student Reviewer fro a period of 1 year, ending 09/02/2021.
  The BoD approves version 2.4 of the Quality Management Manual.
• 28/01/2020:
  The BoD decides to end the mandate of one Commissioner.
• 15/01/2020:
  The BoD appoints Prof. Natalia Antonova as Commissioner for a period of 3 years, ending 14/01/2023.
  The BoD appoints Prof. dr. Sebastián Bruque as Commissioner for a period of 3 years, ending 14/01/2023.
  The BoD appoints Ashley Whitfield as Student Reviewer for a period of 1 year, ending 14/01/2021.
  The BoD extends the appointment of Erazem Bohinc as Student Reviewer for a period of 1 year, ending 31/01/2021.
  The BoD extends the appointment of Camila Cepeda as Student Reviewer for a period of 1 year, ending 31/01/2021.

• 23/12/2019:
  The BoD decides to appoint 2 additional Commissioners.
  The BoD takes a decision about the membership fees for 2020, in line with the President's Message of March 5th, 2019: 2700€ for members with accredited programs, 2000€ for members without accredited programs.
• 21/12/2019:
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PRUE) for a period of 5 years.
• 06/11/2019:
  The BoD co-opts Prof. dr. Marc Van Gastel as member of the BoD, representative of industry for a period until the next AGM (Paris).
  The BoD extends the appointment of Matthew Kitching as Student Reveiwer for a period of 1 year, ending 13/01/2021.
  The BoD appoints Prof. dr. Veronika Machová, as an Academic Reviewer, for a period of 3 years.
  The BoD co-opts Prof. dr. Ray Hilditch and Prof. dr. Véronique Sournis as members of the Committee of Appeal for a period until the next AGM (Paris).
  The BoD approves the composition of ECBE's Quality Committee: DoA, CoR, CoC, Matthew Kitching. Chair is DoA.
  The BoD approves the Bye-Laws, version 2.3.
  The BoD decides to organize an ENQA visit simulation.
• 10/10/2019:
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to International Business School The Hague for a period of 2 years.
• 30/09/2019:
  The BoD approves the proposal made by the Senior Reviewers to appoint Prof. dr. Jan Lojda as Chair of the Pool of Reviewers ad interim until the next AGM (Paris).
  The BoD appoints Prof. dr. Darja Boršič as a Reviewer for a period of 3 year.
  The BoD appoints Elizaveta Grebenyuk as a Student Reviewer for a period of 1 year.
  The BoD approves the "Communications' Flow" procedure
• 07/06/2019:
  The BoD approves the Bye-Laws, version 2.2.
• 25/05/2019:
  The BoD prolongs the contract with the DoA and the DoFA for a period of 3 years.
  The BoD confirms Paris as the location for the Annual Conference 2020, May 2020.
  As the AGM was not in quorum, the BoD coopted Prof. dr Pavel Zufan as BoD member. He is re-elected as President of the Agency.
• 22/05/2019:
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to Institute of Technology and Business in České Budějovice, Faculty of Corporate Strategy and School of Expertness and Valuation for a period of 4 years.
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to Mendel University in Brno, Faculty of Business and Economics for a period of 5 years.
• 22/05/2019:
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to Alfred Nobel University in Dnipropetrovsk, International Business School for a period of 4 years.
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to University of Maribor - Faculty of Economics and Business for a period of 5 years.
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to San Martin de Porres University - Lima - Faculty of Administration Sciences and Human Resources for a period of 4 years.
  The BoC agrees to grant accreditation to London American City College UAE for a period of 4 years.
• 02/05/2019:
  The BoD approves the Bye-Laws, version 2.0.
  The BoD approves the Stage 0 procedure about Membership of Members with programmes notified for accreditation.
  The BoD welcomes Prof. Marc Van Gastel, Belgium, as the key note speaker for the Conference.
  The BoD approves the procedure to be followed in case fake membership or accreditation claims by institutions are made. The procedure will be part of the next version of the Bye-Laws.
  The BoD confirms the status of Member with Programmes Notified for Accreditation of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PRUE).
  The BoD confirms the status of Member with Programmes Notified for Accreditation of Swiss School of Higher Education.
• 05/04/2019:
  The BoD approves the Bye-Laws, version 1.0.
• 01/04/2019:
  The BoD accepts the application for membership of the Public Administration Academy of the Republic of Armenia.
  Prof. dr. Polona Tominc will represent ECBE on the ENQA Forum in Tallin, April 25th-26th.
• 18/03/2019:
  The BoD concludes that the formerly used "Candidacy Status" is no longer available. A solution will be introduced via the Bye-Laws.
  The BoD decides that all documents about accreditations, Review Visits and BoC reports, since the foundation of Agency (May 2012) must become available from ECBE's SharePoint. The BoD instructs all officers to submit these documents or directly to the SharePoint, or by sending them to the DoA and/or the DoFA.
• 01/02/2019:
  The BoD appoints Erazem Bohinc, Camila Cepeda, Simona Dimovska, Arus Harutyunyan, Mary Hayrapetyan, Gohar Hovhannisyan, Jana Lisa Morgaine Kobler, Andrey Kozyrev, Cristi Popescu, Alexandra Maryeta Raijmakers and Marija Vasilevska as Student Reviewers for a period of 1 year.
  The BoD appoints Jude Gideon, Roberta Grossi, Tornike Khoshtaria and Alasdair White as Reviewers for a period of 3 years.
• 26/01/2019:
  The BoD appoints Samo Bobek as Commissioner and Sualp David and Anna Anisimova as Reviewers, all for a period of 3 years.
  The BoD appoints Denisa Jelcova as Student Reviewer for a period of 1 year.
• 14/01/2019:
  The BoD determines the membership fees for 2019 as follows: 2700€ for Members with accredited programs; 1600€ for Members without accredited programs.
  The BoD appoints Bob Johnson as the Chair of the Pool of Reviewers (CoPR) and Robert Rietbroek as Chair of Commissioners (CoC).  Perry Perry Haan is appointed as Commissioner. Vladimir Kureshov and Jan Lojda are appointed as Senior Reviewer. All these appointments are done for a period of 3 years.
  The AGM appointed the following persons as BoD members for a period ending at the AGM of 2021: Alkis Tsiklis, Teresa Shafer, Dmitri Kuzin, László Szepesi and Maja Fošner.
  The General Meetings in Brussels agree on the new Statutes. They will be published in the Belgian Gazette soon.
• 11/01/2019:
  On behalf of the BoD, Jan Vanherck, Director of Finance and Administration, signs a Memorandum of Understanding with The European Students' Union (ESU). ECBE considers students as the important stakeholders, and includes students as members of the Review Teams. ESU becomes a preferred partner that trains and selects students, experts in the field of quality in higher education. The terms and conditions were discussed by Polona Tominc, Director of Accreditation and the final contract was approved by the BoD on November 11th, 2018. Read more about ESU here.
• 04/01/2019:
  The BoD assigns one of his members to be the direct contact person for each institution. The assignment will be done during the coming months.
  The BoD approves the membership of the European University, Paris, France.
• 27/11/2018:
• The BoD approves the topics for both AGM and pre-Conference seminar, Brussels, May 2019. Topics are: "Digital transformation in Business Education" and "ENQA Registration and ECBE 2.0: future oriented accreditation in a global perspective".
• 31/08/2018:
  Ray Hilditch resigns as BoD member and President of the Agency. The BoD decides not to coopt a new BoD member. Pavel Zufan is elected as President of the Agency.
  The BoD appoints Prof. Dr. Polona Tominc as Director of Accreditation (DoA).
• 26/05/2018:
  As the AGM was not in quorum, the BoD coopted the following persons as BoD members: Ray Hilditich, Alkis Tsiklis, Teresa Shafer, Dmitri Kuzin and Maja Fošner. Ray is elected as President, Dmitri becomes Vice-President and Alkis is the Treasurer of the Agency.
• 01/01/2018:
  The BoD appoints Prof. ir. Jan Vanherck, Board member, as Director of Finance and Administration (DoFA). He will take over most of the activities of the former Executive Director.
