Spring Message From the ECBE President

Dear friends and colleagues

Spring is in the air and our thoughts are turning to longer days and warmer weather. Where better to
enjoy these delights than MADRID IN MAY!

A reminder that registration is open for our conference and pre-conference seminar in Madrid from May 24-26. DETAILS AND REGISTRATION FORMS CAN BE FOUND HERE.

ECBE Members are urged to attend the conference this year because our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be of special importance. In order to move forward with ENQA recognition, we require some changes to our Statutes, which will ensure that our management structure reflects ENQA requirements. There will also be Board elections at that time.

May I therefore make 2 requests of you all?

  1. If you wish to propose someone from an ECBE accredited institution to serve on our Board please let Jan Vanherck, our interim Director of Finance and Administration, know by April 16. There will be several vacancies on the Board. Some existing Board members will seek re-elec- tion but we are also anxious to attract “new blood”. It is desirable that the Board consists of appropriate geographical and gender balances, representative of our Members, as well as providing a useful set of skills for ECBE’s effective management.
  2. If you are unable to attend the Conference and AGM, please register a proxy vote so that we can be sure we are quorate. It is essential that changes to the Statutes are discussed and ap- proved to allow us to move forward with ENQA. Documents for the procuration will be sent to you early May.

I remind you that ECBE is a Member-driven organisation. It is your organisation and your participation in its activities and its governance is vital to our progress and continued development.

Finally, a gentle reminder that membership fees for 2018 are due. ENQA recognition is a costly busi- ness so your help in supporting these activities with timely fees payment is greatly appreciate

I wish you all a peaceful and productive term and hope to welcome you personally in Madrid. Warmest best wishes,

Ray Hilditch,
ECBE President 2017/18
